What Midboss is
Midboss is a Deadlock clip maker, free during beta. Instead of recording your screen, it reads the match replay Valve already stores, finds the highlights, and renders them as video on our own hardware, so there is no software to install and no FPS cost. Paste a match ID and get your best plays back as clips.
Questions
How does Midboss decide what to clip?
We score every meaningful sequence in the replay by who was involved and what it changed. The top moments become clips, up to eight per match.
Do I need to install anything?
No. There is no recorder, no overlay, nothing in the background. Sign in with Steam on the site and paste a match ID.
Does it record my screen or cost FPS?
No. Nothing runs on your machine. We download the match replay after the game and render from that on our hardware.
Does it work for every match?
Any match that still has a replay. Valve keeps them for about two weeks, so recent matches work best.
Is this finished?
Not yet. Midboss is a beta we are still building. It is free while we test it, there are not many render machines yet so clips can take a while, and things may change or break along the way.
Is Midboss affiliated with Valve?
No. Midboss is an independent project with no connection to Valve.
